Herdy's Frontyard Ultra

Herdy's Frontyard Ultra is a Backyard Ultra event held at Herdsman Lake in Herdsman, Western Australia on Friday March 12, 2027. The event follows the Backyard Ultra format of repeating a single loop on a strict hourly schedule until only one runner remains.

Participants run a 6.71 km loop on the hour, every hour, continuing while they can. Any runner who fails to complete a loop within the hour or who chooses not to continue is recorded as a DNF. The format equates 24 hours of loops to 100 miles on this circuit.

The event is described as the world’s biggest Backyard Ultra and is presented within the Ultra Series Australia calendar. The site around Herdsman Lake is presented as having a festival atmosphere during the event. A team of volunteers supports the event; volunteers receive a 20% discount on a future Ultra Series event, with the discount able to be accrued.

The race framing focuses on endurance and self challenge: repeating the same loop hourly tests pacing, recovery, and decision making as runners decide whether to continue. Practical event details such as entry procedures, aid stations, and mandatory gear are available from the event information materials provided by the organisers.
