Howgills Fell Race at Lupton Fields, Sedbergh
The Howgills Fell Race is scheduled for Saturday 9 May 2026 at Lupton Fields, Sedbergh School, Cumbria LA10 5AB. The event forms the first race in the 2026 Junior FRA Championship series and includes races for U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, U20 and senior categories.
Junior entries must be submitted online by 7 May 2026; no on-day junior entries are permitted. Senior entries are available on the day for a fee of £2; an entry form is required. Parking is charged at £2 per vehicle, with proceeds to Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team.
All runners must register at the registration tent on Lupton Field and collect bibs for chip timing. Runners will be counted at checkpoints by marshals and numbers will also be manually recorded at the finish to confirm returns. There are prizes for junior races; there are no prizes for seniors.
U18 and U20 competitors may take part in the England trial for the International U18 Mountain Running Cup. The first three junior males and the first three junior females from the trial gain automatic selection, with one further place in each decided by selectors.
Required race kit is category specific. U10 to U16 must carry a whistle, hat, gloves and a waterproof jacket. U18, U20 and seniors must carry hat, gloves, map, compass, emergency food, a waterproof jacket with attached hood and waterproof trousers. The race organiser may check kit before the start, during the race or at the finish.
All routes will be flagged with coloured flags: U10 yellow, U12 green, U14 orange, U16 blue, and U18/U20 red. Marshals will provide basic first aid and a defibrillator will be located at the start and finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
