Hellbender Hustle and Dragonfly Dash

The Lehigh County Conservation District hosts the fourth annual Hellbender Hustle, a 5-mile trail run/walk around Leaser Lake North Shore Access in New Tripoli, Pennsylvania. The meandering loop passes through meadow, woodland, and streamside habitats with varying elevation, allowing observation of native flora and fauna. The event begins with the Dragonfly Dash, a roughly 100-yard sprint for youth 12 and under.

Family-focused educational activities such as crafts and lawn games are available during the morning. Prizes are awarded to top finishers, and each participant’s name is entered into a native plant raffle. The event is held rain or shine; attendees are advised to bring appropriate outdoor gear such as rain protection, sun block, and insect repellant if desired.

Amenities include a T-shirt available in sizes XS through 2XL, refreshments with drinks and snacks, and a water station located at the lake’s South Ramp roughly halfway through the course. Race timing is provided by a professional timing company and official results are posted after the event. Registration fees are $30 for the 5-mile Hellbender Hustle and free for the Dragonfly Dash for youth 12 and under; register by September 1 to help ensure T-shirt size availability and note same-day registration is offered.
