Hell Hole Hundred
Hell Hole Hundred is a series of looped trail races held on the Jericho Horse Trail in the Francis Marion National Forest near Bethera, South Carolina. Distances offered include:
- 100 miles
- 50 miles
- 50 km
- Night 25 km
- 25 km
- 10 km
The course uses two loops of roughly 16 and 18 miles composed of dirt fire roads and single-track trails. The terrain is flat, and June conditions can include high heat and humidity. The 10 km is an out-and-back with no on-course aid; runners should plan for their own fluids on that route. Pacers are permitted for the 50 mile and 100 mile events at the halfway mark.
Three fully stocked aid stations are placed along the course and the main start/finish aid station offers additional food service during the event. Porta potties are available at the start/finish and at both aid stations. Primitive camping is allowed near the trailhead without water or electrical hookups; sites are informal and porta potties are provided on site.
The event is rain or shine; organizers may halt activity for extreme weather or natural disaster. There are no refunds, though race credits are offered in specified time windows before the event. Dogs are not allowed on course during the race. Organizers recommend downloading course maps for offline navigation because other trail users and trail blazes are present. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
