Hell Hole Hundred
The Hell Hole Hundred is a multi-distance trail event held on the Jericho Horse Trail inside the Francis Marion National Forest near Bethera, South Carolina. Distances offered include:
- 100 miles
- 50 miles
- 50 km
- Night 25 km
- 25 km
- 10 km
The terrain is a mix of dirt fire roads and single-track trail on mostly flat loops. There are two loop options used by the race: a 16 mile loop and an 18 mile loop; specific events use one or a combination of those loops. The 10 km follows an out-and-back route with no aid on course, so participants should plan to carry their own fluids.
Three staffed aid stations are placed along the course, and the main start/finish aid station will serve additional food during the day. Porta potties are located at the start/finish and at both aid stations. Runners must check in at each aid station. Drop bags may be kept at the start/finish or at a runner’s vehicle or tent; crew access at aid stations is allowed.
Night running requires a personal light and a spare. Pacers are permitted for the 50 mile event for the last loop and for the 100 mile event after completion of the third loop; one pacer bib and one pacer at a time are allowed. Dogs are not permitted on course during the race.
The event is part of a Swamp Series spanning three races in the same forest. The organizer operates a no-refund policy and may stop the race for safety reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
