Hell Hole Hundred
The Hell Hole Hundred is a multi-distance trail event held on the Jericho Horse Trail in the Francis Marion National Forest near Bethera, South Carolina. Distances offered include:
- 100 miles
- 50 miles
- 50 kilometers
- Night 25 kilometers
- 25 kilometers
- 10 kilometers
The course uses two loop configurations (a 16 mile loop and an 18 mile loop) composed of dirt fire roads and single track. The trail is flat and runs through swamp terrain. The 10k is an out-and-back with no on-course aid; participants on that route should carry their own fluids. June conditions can be hot and humid.
There will be three fully stocked aid stations including a main start/finish aid station with additional food service. Two on-course aid stations will offer typical ultra snacks, cold drinks, and some cool treats. Porta potties will be available at the start/finish and at both aid stations. Runners must check in at each aid station. Runners may keep drop bags at the start/finish or at their vehicle or tent; crews may meet runners at aid stations.
Pacers are permitted for the 50 mile event on the final loop and for the 100 mile event after completion of the third loop; one pacer bib is issued and only one pacer may accompany a runner at a time. The course will be marked with blue reflective flags and ribbon; organizers advise downloading the course map for offline use. Packet pickup is typically at The Foot Store the day before and there is a race day option at the start/finish, with times to be announced.
The event has a no refund policy; bib transfers and distance changes are allowed up to the Tuesday of race week. A one year deferral is available for pregnancy and postpartum needs. Volunteers can earn race entry discounts for time served, and runners and volunteers receive complimentary meals while additional meals are available for purchase.
