Event Details

The Frozen: H3 ultrarunning event will be held from January 8-10, 2027. The start and finish area is the Jericho Horse Trail Parking Area in Bethera, South Carolina, within the Francis Marion National Forest. The event is part of a Swamp Series that includes three races in the forest.

The Course

The primary races use a combination of a 16-mile loop and an 18-mile loop on the Jericho Horse Trail. The courses consist of dirt fire roads and single-track trail and are described as flat. The 10k is an out-and-back route. The entire course is within the Francis Marion National Forest. Runners may encounter local wildlife.

Race Features

Three fully stocked aid stations will be available: one at the start/finish line and two on the course. They will provide typical ultra snacks, drinks, and hot food options during colder hours. The main aid station will serve hot meals like smash burger quesadillas. Runners and volunteers receive complimentary meals. Pacers are allowed for the 50-mile and 100-mile distances starting at the halfway mark. Runners can keep drop bags at the start/finish.

Requirements & Policies

Participants in distances that involve running at night are required to carry a light. Dogs are not allowed on the course during the race. The event operates under a special use permit with the Francis Marion National Forest. There is primitive camping available at the start/finish area from Friday afternoon.
