Frozen: H3

Frozen: H3 is a multi-distance trail event held on the Jericho Horse Trail within the Francis Marion National Forest near Charleston, South Carolina. The start/finish coordinates are 33.200976, -79.767657; there is no standard street address for the race site. The course uses a combination of dirt fire roads, single track, and double track.

Distances offered:

  • 100 Miler
  • 50 Miler
  • 50K
  • 25K
  • Night 25K
  • 10K

The event uses two loop options - a 16 mile loop and an 18 mile loop - with different combinations assigned by distance. The 10K is an out-and-back with a marked turnaround and no aid on course. Pacers may join 50 mile and 100 mile runners at the halfway mark. Night running requires a light and spare power or batteries.

Three aid stations serve the course - two on the trail plus a main aid at the start/finish. Aid stations offer standard ultra snacks, cold drinks, and hot options overnight and early morning such as broth and ramen; the main aid station will provide additional hot food items. Porta potties are located at the start/finish and both aid stations. Runners must check in at each aid station and wear their bib on the front.

The event is part of a Swamp Series that tallies miles across three races to crown male and female winners. Camping is permitted adjacent to the start/finish area but this is not an official campground. There are no refunds; bib transfers and a one year deferral for pregnancy or postpartum are allowed. Volunteer hours can be exchanged for race entry discounts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
