Event Information

Heat Wave 6/12/24 is an organized running event by the Kansas Ultrarunners' Society. It takes place on June 12-13, 2026 at the Rose Hill District Stadium in Rose Hill, Kansas. The event features timed races on a certified 400-meter track.

Distances and Format

Participants can choose from several timed events:

  • 24 Hours
  • 12 Hours
  • 6 Hours
  • 6 Hours - Night
  • 12 Hours - Night

The course is a USATF-certified 400-meter track. Every three hours, the direction of running on the track changes. The event uses chip timing, and lap counts are displayed on a screen.

Event Details

The event is cup-less, so participants must bring their own drinking vessel. A primary aid station provides water, ice, a supplement drink, and light food like fruit, chips, cookies, ramen, and mashed potatoes. Participants may also bring their own supplies.

Pacers are not allowed. Tents and pop-ups are permitted only in designated areas, not on the infield turf. Dogs are not allowed on the track or infield.

The event includes optional "Yeti Cup Challenges," which are shorter races within the main event: one mile, two 800-meter races, and a 400-meter race held at specific times.

Registration and Awards

Registration closes on June 4, 2026. Kansas Ultrarunners' Society members receive a registration discount. All participants receive a t-shirt and a finisher's medal. Additional custom belt buckles are awarded for completing distances of 50K, 50 miles, 100K, or 100 miles. Top male and female finishers in each timed event receive a trophy.

There is a special award for participants who complete both this event and the KUS 6/12/24 Hour event held in November. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
