Heat Wave 6/12/24 is a Kansas Ultrarunners' Society event held June 12-13, 2026 in Rose Hill, Kansas at Rose Hill District Stadium, 323 E. School St. The event offers time-based track competitions including:

Registration opens Dec 1, 2025. Packet pick-up is available the day before the event. All participants must check in before their event start. Age rules require runners under 18 to have a parent or guardian at the race.

Course, rules, and logistics

The course is a USATF certified 400 meter track, Course Certification ID: KS25008TJD. Live chip timing will count laps and display cumulative distance on a screen at the start/finish. Laps are officially counted by the timing service; 4 laps = 0.99 mile (1600 meters) and 1609 meters = 1 mile. Direction on course changes every three hours.

The event is cup-less; participants must provide their own drinking vessel. A primary aid station will offer ice, water, Ultraverse Proxima C, fruit, chips, cookies, and ramen or mashed potatoes by request. Pacers are not allowed. Tents and pop-ups are permitted only in designated areas; dogs are restricted from the track and infield. No on-site medical staff is appointed. Trail runs nearby

Take on the 34th annual Not 4 Wimps trail run in Derby, KS on Feb 22 with 10K, 10 mile and half marathon courses over sandy and sometimes muddy trails. Limited to 200 runners, this no frills race uses chip timing and has finish giveaways.

The Honey Badger 100 is a rugged 100 mile ultramarathon based at Cheney State Park near Wichita, KS, mixing scenic park stretches with long road miles and a 36 hour finish window. Crews are required and finishers earn coveted buckles.
