Haul Ass Ultra Running Festival
The Haul Ass Ultra Running Festival takes place at the Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary in Erie, Colorado. The event offers a variety of distance and timed categories on a flat, fast, and non-technical off-road course. The terrain consists of a mix of dirt, grass, and gravel, featuring approximately 200 feet of elevation gain. Participants run a cross-country style loop that provides views of the Rocky Mountains and the various rescued animals residing at the sanctuary, including horses, donkeys, cows, and goats.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5k and 10k distances
- 50k and 50mi distances
- 3-hour, 6-hour, 9-hour, and 12-hour timed formats
A central aid station near the main race hub provides water and assorted food items. For the distance formats, a 12-hour cutoff is in place for the 50k and 50mi events. In the timed formats, only fully completed loops finished before the time limit count toward final results. Awards are presented to the top three overall finishers and top masters finishers in the distance events, while timed events recognize the participants with the highest completed mileage.
The event supports the Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the care and advocacy of rescued farmed animals. The festival atmosphere includes live music and food. On-site parking is available at the sanctuary, and organizers encourage carpooling. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
