Course and logistics

The course begins and finishes at the Devil's Backbone trailhead parking lot and follows a looped route that uses Hidden Valley Trail, Hunter Loop, Laughing Horse Loop, and lower Wild Loop. Specific segments in the race description include 0.1, 2.2, 0.3, 0.3, 0.7, 0.5, 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 0.4 mile sections before returning to the parking lot. The route will be marked with flour arrows.

There is a water aid station near the 3-mile mark that participants will pass twice; it will offer water and Gatorade only. Runners are advised to carry additional fluids if needed. The aid station will be staffed by local high school band volunteers, who will receive a donation in appreciation. Timing is handled manually by giving runners a stick that represents overall placing; runners are expected to return the stick after finishing.

Participants must purchase a park pass for Devil's Backbone Open Space or risk ticketing; carpooling is recommended because parking can fill quickly. If trails are closed due to mud, entries will be transferred to the following year because the event cannot be rescheduled. Awards will be held at Loveland Aleworks in downtown Loveland.
