Barr Lake Trail Race

The Barr Lake Trail Race takes place on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Barr Lake State Park, Visitors Center, in Brighton, Colorado. Now in its sixth year, the event uses looped courses that circle the lake and provide continuous views of the water and the Front Range. Distances offered include:

  • 50K
  • 30K
  • Half Marathon
  • 15K
  • 5K

All courses are run on dirt trails. Races start and finish at the Nature Center and use loop formats: multiple loops for the longer distances and single or out-and-back formats for the shorter distances. The course design emphasizes low elevation change, described as less than 100 feet of elevation gain per loop. Total elevation gain varies by distance; for example the 50K shows about 480 feet total and the 30K about 380 feet total.

Aid station coverage and race support vary by distance: the 50K, 30K, and half marathon list three aid stations, the 15K lists one aid station, and the 5K lists no aid stations. Crews are permitted to support runners at the finish line, pacers are not permitted, and a designated area is provided for drop bags at the start/finish. Race parking is in the lot next to the staging area and state park fees are included in registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
