Harriman Trail Runs
Harriman Trail Runs take place at Railroad Ranch in Harriman State Park near Island Park, Idaho, with the start and finish on the east lawn of the Boy's House. The event offers a mix of forest and meadow terrain, including gravel, two-tracks and pine-needle covered single track, with views of the Teton Mountains and the local valley.
Distances for 2026:
- Short: 1k / 0.6 mi Kid's Run
- Tall: 10k / 6.4 mi
- Grande: 25k / 15.3 mi
- Venti: 50k / 30.6 mi
The 25K is a single loop; the 50K uses two loops. The 10K follows the Silver Lake Trail after accessing the aid station via two-tracks. The 1k Kid's Run follows the gravel path loop through Railroad Ranch. Seasonal wildlife trail closures may affect course access in spring; GPX course files will be provided to registered entrants once closures lift. Course markings include arrows, ribbons, signage and flour arrows as conditions permit.
There is one on-course aid station visited multiple times and a start/finish station. The race is cupless; entrants must provide their own drinking vessel. Late breakfast/brunch/lunch is included with entry and will feature items such as burritos, burgers, baked potatoes, chips, fruit and beverages. Finishers medals will be awarded to all who complete their chosen distance; prizes are given to the top three women and top three men in the Tall, Grande and Venti distances.
Participation is limited; a waitlist and possible spot reallocations may be used if distances fill. Minors require parental and race director permission and organizers request email contact to register minors. When registering a child, entrants should sign in as a Guest or create an account for the child rather than using the entrant's own account.
Event logistics note that there is no camping inside the park; yurts and park buildings are available to rent and there are nearby campgrounds, dispersed camping options and lodging in West Yellowstone, Island Park and Ashton. Standard trail etiquette applies, dogs are not permitted on park trails except in parking areas, and entrants are asked to minimize waste by bringing personal tableware.
