Yellowstone Trail Race

Event details

The Yellowstone Trail Marathon takes place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in West Yellowstone, Montana. The event center and start/finish are at the Rendezvous Ski Trails. Race registration includes a race bib, a finisher medal, a custom race sticker, timing and posted results, sponsor products from Hammer Nutrition, aid station support, and the option to order a race shirt.

All races start and finish at the Rendezvous Ski Trails. The marathon is a two-loop course with about 1,900 ft of elevation gain. The half marathon is one loop with about 960 ft of elevation gain. The 10K is one loop with about 340 ft of elevation gain.

Course and safety notes

The course is on trails and mixed terrain and will be marked with color-coded flags, cones, and arrows. There is a water station on the marathon and half marathon routes. The race is permitted under a special use authorization from the Custer Gallatin National Forest. The Forest Service recommends that each participant carry bear spray.
