Hark the Herald Half Marathon

Tiburon, United States • 13 Dec 2025

Event overview

The 37th annual Hark the Herald event takes place on December 13, 2025, at Angel Island State Park, Belvedere Tiburon, CA. The event offers a Half Marathon and a 10K (the 10K is slightly long at about 6.5 miles). Registration pricing includes the mandatory ferry fee. The field is limited to 400 participants. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable; a rollover credit may be available if requested by November 13, 2025, with a doctor's note required after that date.

Course and race logistics

Both distances follow a hilly loop trail that circumnavigates Angel Island and provides views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay and Marin County. The 10K is a single loop; the Half Marathon completes the loop twice. Course markings use orange ribbon at trail crossings and turns. There are no aid stations on the course; aid is available before the half marathon second loop and food and drink are provided at the finish. T-shirts are provided to all participants. All half marathon finishers receive medals. Personalized award ribbons for the top three male and female finishers in each age group will be mailed. Headphones and other audio devices are not allowed on course for safety. Athletes must take a special chartered ferry from the Tiburon ferry dock to reach the race; return ferries depart hourly from Angel Island to Tiburon with one exception. Parking in Tiburon lots ranges from $5 to $20 per day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
