2025 Hark the Herald Half Marathon & 10K

The 37th annual Hark the Herald event takes place on December 13, 2025, at Angel Island State Park, Belvedere Tiburon, CA. The event is limited to 400 participants and includes adult and youth categories. Race pricing for registered participants includes the ferry fee.

Course and logistics

The course is a hilly loop trail that circumnavigates Angel Island and offers views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay, and Marin County. The 10K is slightly long at approximately 6.5 miles; the Half Marathon completes the loop twice. The course will be marked with orange ribbon at trail crossings and turns.

There are no aid stations on the course; aid will be available before the second loop for half marathoners. Participants are advised to carry water. Food and drink will be available at the finish. Course cut-off time is 3.5 hours; half marathoners must complete the first loop within 1 hour 30 minutes. Hikers and walkers are allowed in the 10K. Headphones and other audio devices are not allowed for safety on narrow, steep sections.

Athletes must take the special chartered ferry from the Tiburon ferry dock to reach the race. Ferries return from Angel Island hourly at 20 minutes past the hour, except at 12:20 PM. Parking in Tiburon lots ranges from $5 to $20 per day. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable; a rollover credit option is available under specified conditions. Trail runs nearby

Tackle scenic rolling trails around Lake Chabot with distances from 8K to 50K and a free kids dash. Well marked loops, stocked aid stations and a cupless policy make this a rewarding challenge for trail runners of all levels.
