Harewood Forest Trail Race
The Harewood Forest Trail Race is an annual spring event set in the Harewood Forest in Hampshire's Test Valley. The race supports the Wherwell Playing Fields Association and Wherwell School PTA.
The event offers three race types:
- A 5k trail run
- A 10k trail run
- A canicross race
All courses are described as undulating and hilly, featuring forest trails, dirt tracks, single paths, and road crossings. The terrain can be uneven and muddy, making trail shoes recommended. The route passes through fields and bluebell woods and includes obstacles like overhanging trees.
Race day registration opens and closes in the morning. The races start in waves, beginning with the canicross event at 10:00 am. Participants must pre-register online; no entries are available on the day. Age restrictions apply to the running events. Running with a dog is permitted in the canicross race under specific conditions, including mandatory public liability insurance for the dog. Dogs are not allowed on the event field unless entered in a race.
The event is cupless, so participants are asked to bring their own reusable cup or bottle for water stations. Post-race refreshments are available for purchase. Parking is available on the sports field at the event site, the Wherwell Playing Fields. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
