Harewood Forest Trail Race
The Harewood Forest Trail Race is an annual spring event held in Harewood Forest in the Test Valley, with proceeds going to the Wherwell Playing Fields Association and Wherwell School PTA. Routes run mostly over forest trails and tracks and pass through fields and bluebell woods.
The courses are undulating and hilly and include a mix of trail, tarmac, dirt and single tracks. Competitors should expect rough terrain, overhanging trees, mud, holes and ruts from farm equipment. The route is marked with kilometre markers, tape, signs and flags, and marshals are present. There is a single road crossing on the course; runners must obey marshals.
Facilities at the race HQ include toilets, first aid on the course and at the finish line, parking on the sports field and post race refreshments for purchase. Events are cupless so participants must carry their own cup or bottle. There is no bag drop.
Age and entry rules are set by the organiser. Minimum ages are 12 years for the 10k and 7 years for the 5k. 5k entrants under 11 must be accompanied on the route by a responsible adult who has their own entry. Entry is by pre registration only and closes before race day. Prizes are awarded to finishers.
Canicross entries must carry dog public liability insurance, carry waste bags and water for the dog, use appropriate harness and a bungee lead, and follow organiser guidance including temperature related restrictions for dogs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
