About the race
The Winchester Trail Run is an annual off-road event held near Winchester in Hampshire. Returning for its sixth year, the event attracted over 1,000 participants the previous year and offers two measured route options that follow tracks, bridleways and footpaths around the local landmark Farley Mount.
The event base is Sparsholt College, which provides hard-standing parking on site. The courses are described as rolling rather than steep, with tree-lined sections, open vistas over the Hampshire countryside and a short climb up to Farley Mount on the 21.4k route. Reported elevation gains are about 248 m for the Half Marathon and 144 m for the 12.1k route.
Two distances are available:
- 21.4k Half Marathon
- 12.1k Medium route
Race services include chip timing, signed course navigation using pink arrows and tape, on-course water stations and refreshments, first aid cover and course marshals. Finishers receive a metal medal, a refreshing drink, a finisher goodie and a personalised certificate. The event states it welcomes new runners and notes that dogs are not allowed on the course.
