Happy Trails Marathon : South Jordan, UT

Happy Trails Marathon offers marathon and half marathon distances on the Jordan River Parkway, using East River Front Park (10911 S River Front Pkwy) as the start and finish location in South Jordan, Utah. The courses run almost entirely on paved trails, pass bridges, parks, golf courses, and follow the Jordan River for much of the route. April running typically includes flowering trees along the trail.

Distances

  • Marathon: 26.2 miles, +970 ft elevation gain, 97% paved
  • Half Marathon: 13.1 miles, +221 ft elevation gain, 92% paved

Aid stations are staffed and stocked with water, Gatorade, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, Swedish Fish, bananas and grapes, coke and ginger ale, first aid kits, and Vaseline. Navigation is provided with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals. The race enforces a course cutoff that follows a 7.5 hour pace; aid will be pulled accordingly.

Runners receive a race shirt and a locally made finisher medal. Free race photos are provided and hosted online without added logos. Packet pickup is available at the Sandy Salt Lake Running Store on the day before the event, with same-day pickup at the start area. Parking at the venue is free. Field sizes are limited, with caps of 150 runners for each distance and a general practice of keeping races under 300 participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
