A Happy New Year 5K & 10K Trail Run

The event takes place at Shaffer Bend Recreation Area in Marble Falls, Texas on New Year’s Day and offers trail distances on the park's scenic routes near Lake Travis. Options include:

  • 5K trail run or walk
  • 10K trail run

The course uses a loop-based design with a central start and finish area. Trails are marked with signage and crew support. Runners and walkers should expect rolling terrain, short climbs, and lake views. The course is described as beginner-friendly and suitable for walking, jogging, or running.

Parking is available inside the park near the start and finish area; participants should follow event signage and crew directions. All participants must complete an online waiver before racing. Registrants on race day may be asked for a photo ID, and bib pickup is available on site.

Participants are advised to bring hydration, trail-appropriate shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and a phone or watch if desired. Layers are recommended for cool mornings and warmer late morning conditions. Costumes and festive gear are welcome. Because this is a trail environment, participants should watch their footing, pack out trash, and respect other park users.
