Rock River Canyon : Great Lakes Endurance
Rock River Canyon is a trail running event held in the Munising, Michigan area and based at Valley Spur Lodge. Distances offered:
- 50K - out-and-back, 31+ miles
- 27K - out-and-back, 16.5+ miles
The route follows a section of the North Country Trail to the Rock River Canyon Wilderness and returns to Valley Spur. The 50K course includes about 26 miles of single track and about 5 miles of dirt forest road. The 27K is described as entirely single track, with the turnaround at the AuTrain aid station.
Course details and race logistics
There are six aid stations located approximately at miles 4, 8.4, 12.8, 18.2, 22.6, and 27. Runners are required to carry a 20 oz water bottle or a functional hydration system; volunteers provide cold water, an electrolyte drink, energy gels, and electrolytes for refills. A drop-bag tent will be available at the start/finish area. Parking is available at Valley Spur Lodge.
Registration closes Monday, June 1 (race is scheduled for early June 2026). Entry is limited to 100 runners. The organizer’s policies state there are no refunds; participant transfers are allowed for a $10 fee. All finishers receive a commemorative award; podium awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
