Rock River Canyon

Rock River Canyon is a trail running event near Munising, Michigan, held on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The event offers two distances:

• 50K (about 31 miles)
• 27K (about 16.5 miles)

Both courses are out-and-back routes beginning at Valley Spur Lodge and following a section of the North Country Trail into the Rock River Canyon Wilderness. The 50K route includes about 26 miles of single track and about 5 miles of dirt forest road. The 27K is entirely single track, with a turnaround near AuTrain. The 50K lists approximately 2690 feet of total ascent; the 27K lists about 414 feet of total ascent.

Aid stations are provided along the course and are vehicle-accessible. The 50K includes six aid stations spaced roughly 4 to 5.4 miles apart; the 27K includes four aid stations. Runners are required to carry a 20 oz water bottle or a functional hydration system that can be refilled. Aid stations supply cold water, an electrolyte drink, and a selection of snacks including bananas, chips, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, with some gluten free options.
