Great Bentley Trail Runs

Great Bentley Trail Runs take place mainly on public footpaths, fields, woods and some roads. The series comprises four rounds held across the summer and early autumn, each round available to complete within its assigned calendar month.

Rounds and months listed: R1 – Fordham in June
R2 – Wrabness in July
R3 – Lawford in August
R4 – September; one set of details references Holbrook community car park as a start and a course of about 7 miles. Final instructions for each round are posted the night before the round.

Entry and scoring details: All four rounds must be completed for results to count in the club championship. Each round is timed; scoring awards 100 points to the fastest time, 99 to the next, and so on. Results are scored individually although runners may run together. There are separate male and female champions and winners receive a champion t-shirt.

Practical notes and rules: There are no clipper points or water stations, and participants should carry water. A few questions replace clipper points on each run so runners should bring a pen. Participants must use their own phone to send START and FINISH messages with full name, membership status, finish time including seconds, and answers to questions. For some rounds competitors are asked not to upload the route to Strava until the end of the month.

T-shirts: Club members who complete all four rounds receive a free t-shirt; non-members who complete all four can purchase a t-shirt at cost. Details for claiming or paying for shirts are provided by the organiser after the series finishes.

Advice for navigation: Runners are advised not to rely solely on following others, to consider running in pairs for navigation, to learn the event abbreviations beforehand, and to fold direction paperwork so one paragraph is visible at a time.
