Event Information

The Granite Peaks Ultra is a 55 km mountain running event. The course has 3159 meters of total ascent. It starts and finishes at Tollymore Forest Park near Bryansford in County Down.

Route Description

The route begins at Tollymore Forest Park. It proceeds towards Parnell’s Bridge and the Kings Grave, then up Trassey Track. The course climbs to the Mourne Wall between Meelmore and Meelbeg, following the wall to the Silent Valley reservoir area. It continues up to the summit of Slieve Binnian before descending to Annalong Wood. The route then passes the Blue Lough, climbs Slievelamaghan, and proceeds via Cove Mountain and Slieve Beg to The Brandy Pad. It continues to the foot of Rocky, ascends Slieve Donard, Commedagh, Slieve Corragh, and Slievenaglogh, descends to Hares Gap, climbs over Slieve Bearnagh and Meelmore, then descends back to Trassey Track and returns through Tollymore Forest to the finish.

Mandatory Kit

Runners must bring Level C - Advanced mandatory kit. This includes a waterproof jacket with hood, hat, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone, foil blanket, waterproof leg cover, a means to carry at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, a map, and a compass. The specific items to be carried during the race will be confirmed at registration on the day, based on conditions.
