Grand Canal Canter Autumn

The event offers Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k routes along the Grand Western Canal in Tiverton, Mid Devon. Routes start at Tiverton Canal Basin and follow canal paths out from Tiverton; the 10k turns at Tiverton Bridge Car Park, while the Half Marathon and Marathon turn at Sampford Peverel and return to Tiverton for the finish. The Marathon consists of the same out and back route completed twice.

The course follows hard packed gravel canal paths and has low total ascent: about 90 ft for the Half Marathon and about 180 ft for the Marathon, making the route predominantly flat. All finishers receive a bespoke Grand Canal Canter medal. This is a cupless event; runners must carry a water bottle, cup or running backpack. Water containers are available to top up or fill personal containers at locations approximately every 3 miles, but no disposable cups are provided. Age rules require participants to be over 18, or over 16 for the 10k.
