South West Coast 50 Ultra Challenge

The event takes place on Sat 24 July 2027 along the South West Coast Path and across Exmoor, with basecamp at Dunster near Dunster Castle. The main route is a 50 km loop that crosses Exmoor and includes about 1600 metres of climb.

  • 50 km loop, approx 1600 metres climb
  • 25 km option
  • 10 km family friendly option

Basecamp offers camping, a bar, transfers and parking, plus weekend hospitality. Rest stops are provided roughly every 12.5 km with larger marquee rest stops about every 25 km. Catering includes snacks every 12.5 km and meals every 25 km, with dietary options and lighter choices for runners.

The route is fully signed and supported with GPS tracking via an event app introduced in 2025. A timing system scans participants at rest stops and progress is monitored by a control room. Medical teams, podiatrists and massage staff are available at rest stops, and there are self help supplies for feet. Shuttle buses to local train stations and parking at most finish lines are provided, with additional transport options listed as bookable extras.

Finishers receive a medal, a finisher T shirt, a glass of fizz and a finishers meal, and can download an official challenge certificate. Corporate team entries and optional hospitality packages are also available. Early bird sign up from £5 is extended to 30 Sept and includes a free tech T shirt and a virtual challenge.
