South West Coast 50 Ultra Challenge
The event on Sat 24 JULY 2027 takes place on the South West Coast Path and across Exmoor, with a basecamp set near Dunster Castle and a start in Minehead. It offers supported trail distances and a festival-style basecamp with camping, a bar, transfers and parking.
Distances offered:
- 50 km loop across Exmoor with about 1,600 metres of ascent
- 25 km option
- 10 km family-friendly option
Route and support include fully signed trails with pink arrows and GPS tracking via a Challenge App. Covered rest stops appear approximately every 12.5 km with larger facilities about every 25 km; these rest stops provide marquee cover, seating, catering, medical and welfare tents, and changing areas. The organiser’s timing system logs progress at rest stops and an upgraded app enables real-time GPS sharing.
Catering is included with snacks and drinks every 12.5 km, meals every 25 km, energy drinks, and options for different dietary needs. Medical teams, podiatrists and massage staff are available at rest stops, with an on-call emergency medical team managed via a central control room.
