South West Coast 50 Ultra Challenge

The South West Coast 50 takes place on Saturday 25 July 2026 and uses sections of the South West Coast Path and Exmoor with a basecamp at Dunster near Dunster Castle. The event offers multiple distance options:

  • 50 km loop
  • 25 km option
  • 10 km family friendly event

The 50 km route includes the Minehead section of the coastal path and crosses Exmoor with approximately 1600 metres of climb. Participants may walk, jog, or run. Event options include a Solo Challenger start, an Ultra March option, and a Trailblazerz option. Weekend camping packages, a bar, transfers, and parking are available at basecamp.

Support and logistics include covered rest stops approximately every 12.5 km with major stops about every 25 km. Rest stops provide marquee cover, catering, seating, changing rooms, medical and massage teams, and self help blister supplies. The route is fully signed with many arrows and GPS tracking via the event App, and timing scans are used at rest stops. Food and drink provisions include snacks every 12.5 km, meals every 25 km, energy drinks, dietary options, lighter runner choices, and a finishers meal. Finishers receive a medal, T shirt, a glass of fizz, and can download an official challenge certificate.

Camping packages include showers and chill out areas. Shuttle buses serve local stations and transfers operate between key venues. Medical cover includes doctors, paramedics, podiatrists, and mobile emergency teams linked to a 24 hour control room. The event is part of the Ultra Challenge series and the App provides training guides, maps, and forums. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
