South West Coast 50 Ultra Challenge

The South West Coast 50 is a trail event on Saturday 25 July 2026 based at a Dunster basecamp on the South West Coast Path and across Exmoor. Routes use a loop format that starts and finishes at Dunster basecamp for the main challenges, with camping and festival style basecamp facilities.

Distances include:

  • 50 km loop with about 1600 m of climb, Dunster to Dunster
  • 25 km loop of roughly 600 m climb, Dunster to Porlock or Porlock to Dunster
  • 10 km loop around the Deer Park next to Dunster Castle

The event provides covered rest stops approximately every 12.5 km and larger marquees at about every 25 km. Catering includes snacks, meals every 25 km, energy drinks and options for dietary needs. Medical cover, paramedics, podiatrists and massage teams are available at rest stops, and an emergency medical team is on call via a 24 hour control room.

Route navigation is fully signed with pink arrows and supported by a mobile app offering Google route maps, GPS tracking and scanning of progress at rest stops. Additional on-site services listed are parking, shuttle transfers, a bar, and bookable camping packages.
