Trail Running in Kettle Moraine Forest

The Golden Kettle Trail Series is a recurring athletic program held in the Southern and Northern Kettle Moraine Forest in Eagle, Wisconsin. The series spans from April through October and consists of seven distinct events held at various trail locations. Participants can register for individual races or the full series.

The 2026 schedule includes the following events:

  • McMiller
  • Blue Springs
  • Greenbush
  • Nordic
  • Zillmer
  • Oleson Cabin
  • Scuppernong

The series features an open start format, allowing participants to begin their run at any point within a four-hour morning window. Because of this flexible start, the races are self-timed. Runners are responsible for tracking their own performance using a watch or mobile application and reporting their results at the finish area. All participants are required to be off the course by midday for their times to be officially recorded.

Every event in the series includes live music from local artists and post-race snacks. Finishers receive locally crafted medals at each race, and digital race photos are provided for free. Specialized services such as recovery boot sessions and physical therapy advice are also available on-site. Participants aged 21 and over have access to local craft beer following the run. Full series registrants receive additional merchandise, including a technical bandana. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
