Backyard Nonsense is a timed trail running event scheduled for September 26, 2026, at Richard Bong State Recreation Area near Brighton, Wisconsin (26313 Burlington Rd, Kansasville). The event was postponed from June 6, 2026 to the September date.

There are two 24 hour formats described by the organizer. The Backyard 24 uses a 4.1 mile loop run every hour on the hour, with runners who remain in the final hour racing to the finish. The 24 Hour Ultra option allows continuous running for the full 24 hour period to accumulate as many miles as possible.
Organizers have reserved group campgrounds for participants and their supporters. A central home base is provided with amenities for runners between loops. Vehicles on site must have a 2026 Wisconsin State Park pass; those without a pass may purchase a day pass at the park entrance.
The organizing group offers a number of free entries for BIPOC and LGBTQ athletes while funding lasts; these entries are not need based and are distributed confidentially. The organizer accepts each entrant’s declared gender at face value, and registration records can be amended for non-binary pronouns if needed.
