Girdwood Marathon

Girdwood, United States • 4 Oct 2025

Set in Girdwood, Alaska, the Girdwood Marathon is a multi-distance trail event hosted by the Girdwood Nordic Ski Club, beginning and finishing at the Alyeska Day Lodge. Runners can choose the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, Juniors Half Marathon, or a 5K Trails Race, navigating a network of trails including Winner Creek, the Iditarod routes, Athabascan, California Creek, and Beaver Pond paths. The course winds through temperate rainforest terrain with creek crossings and climbs, and is described as more like an ultra than a first marathon. Five aid stations offer snacks and water; bear spray is BYOBS (Bring Your Own Bear Spray), and dogs are asked to stay home. Proceeds support trail grooming and signage.
