Girdwood Marathon 2026
The Girdwood Marathon 2026 is a trail running event in Girdwood, Alaska, held on October 3, 2026. Races start and finish at the Alyeska Day Lodge and use many of the town trails and resort paths that run through the local temperate rainforest.
Distances offered include:
- Full Marathon about 26.2 miles
- Half Marathon about 13.1 miles
- Juniors Half Marathon
- 5K Trails Race
The course runs on multiple named trails and paths, including Winner Creek Trail, the Upper Middle and Lower Iditarod Trails, the Alyeska Bike Path, Beaver Pond Trail, California Creek Trail, and the new Kettle Pond Trail. Organizers provide five aid stations with snacks and water and pitchers to refill hydration packs or bottles. The route may require crossing Glacier Creek on foot under safety supervision; a Plan B exists if water is unsafe.
Race rules and logistics note that dogs are not allowed at the event, AirPods are discouraged, and there are no bib transfers. The event operates as a fundraiser for the Girdwood Nordic Ski Club with proceeds used for snow machines, grooming, trail maintenance, and signage. Volunteers are offered priority entry in the following year. Final course details and maps are shared with participants and wait list entrants before race day.
