The Geode Challenge Races, held annually at Geode State Park in Danville, Iowa, offer trail running events of 5K, 12K, and 25K distances. The courses feature diverse terrain including dirt and single-track trails, rocky sections, gravel, sand, grass, road segments, hills, and a creek crossing, with the 12K perimeter loop boasting about 800 feet of elevation gain. The 25K is a double loop of the 12K course, providing an extra challenge. The event supports park projects and welcomes runners and walkers, including those accompanied by leashed dogs. Finishers receive a local geode, and unique handmade cedar plaques are awarded to top finishers, with special recognition for runners with dogs.
