GBP Winter Trail Series

The GBP Winter Trail Series is a set of trail races held in Santa Fe, NM. Events take place on the third Saturday of December, January and February. A post series social and celebration follows the February race.

Races take place on trails within the Galisteo Basin Preserve. The preserve contains more than 41 miles of trails and about 10,000 acres of land that Commonweal Conservancy protects and manages.

The series offers a noncompetitive virtual option. Virtual participants do not need to run or hike the preserve course; completing the specified distance is sufficient to receive a finishers award.

Entry fees are treated as donations to Commonweal Conservancy. The organizer reports that one hundred percent of profits from the series go to the conservancy, and that the series has raised $50,946.97 over the past six years. The event description notes that the series aims to keep people active outdoors during winter and to expose participants to runnable trails in New Mexico.
