Galtee Challenge Duo race

The Galtee Challenge Duo race is a partner-entry mountain event starting and finishing at King's Yard, Kilbehenny in County Tipperary. The course covers approximately 25.50 km with about 1,800 m of climb. The route is not marked and GPS use is allowed. The event is classified as difficulty 10 (Extreme).

Control points are visited in sequence and include Carrigeen, Cruach a Tarbh, Sheep’s Pins, the start of Temple Hill, Temple Hill, Lyracappul, and Galty Mor (trig point). There is an aid station at roughly 13 km with refreshments. Facilities at the finish include refreshments, toilets and coin-operated showers; tent pitches are available onsite and parking is provided at King's Yard.

All competitors must carry mandatory Level C kit. Required items include a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry a minimum of 500 mL water, emergency food, map of the route or area, and a compass. The specific kit to be carried may be finalised on the day and will be advised at registration. Random kit checks may be carried out and failure to have required items may result in denial of entry or disqualification.
