Galtee Challenge Duo race

The Galtee Challenge Duo is a partner race held in County Tipperary on Saturday 3rd October 2026 with start and finish at King's Yard, Kilbehenny. The event distance is 25.50 km with approximately 1,800 m of climb. The race is entered as a duo; teams must enter with a partner. The event difficulty is rated 10 (Extreme). The route is not marked and GPS use is allowed.

The course follows a sequence of control points including Carrigeen (Monabrack on some maps) R859219; Cruach a Tarbh (Bull Hill) R848216; Sheep’s pins R846196; the stile start of Temple Hill R819217; Temple Hill R833218; Lyracappul (start of wall) R845231; and Galty Mor trig point R878238.

Mandatory kit is Level C. Required items include a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams; hat or buff; gloves; whistle; charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored; foil blanket or bivvy bag; waterproof full leg cover; means to carry at least 500 mL water; emergency food; and map and compass. The exact kit to be carried on the day will be confirmed at registration.

Entry opens 6 September 2026 and closes 30 September 2026. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entry is limited to 200 competitors. Race registration takes place in King's Yard on the day. There is an aid station at about 13 km with a cutoff; refreshments, toilets and coin operated showers are available at the finish, and tent pitches are available onsite.
