Frosty Woods - A Winter Way Over Yonder Trail Adventure is scheduled for November 22, 2025 in Ringwood, New Jersey, at 1304 Sloatsburg Rd. It is the third annual edition in the Way Over Yonder Trail Run Series. The event offers multiple distances and a post-race gathering with food and drinks. Parking is available at Shepard Lake, with a short walk to the start and finish.

Course, gear and logistics

Distances:

  • Half Marathon: 13.1-mile contiguous loop, 1,600 ft elevation gain.
  • 10K: 10K loop, 700 ft elevation gain.
  • 5K: 3.2-mile course, just under 400 ft elevation gain.

The course is mostly singletrack through woods, with rolling hills and technical sections and several viewpoints. Routes are marked with arrow signs and survey tape, but final routes may be adjusted based on course conditions. There will be a cupless aid station (Mile 5.1 for the Half, Mile 4.5 for the 10K). Registered runners receive access to RideWithGPS during the event; the app can provide audio cues and use of GPX files is supported. Required gear listed for the event includes a charged cell phone, RideWithGPS or similar app, hydration pack or water bottle, at least 200 calories of food, and a whistle. Microspikes or Yaktrax are recommended if there is snow. Weather in the Ramapo Mountains in late November can range from about 25 to 45 degrees.
