Fortitude Ultra - Pippingford

Fortitude Ultra is a timed endurance event at Pippingford Park, Uckfield TN22 3HW. The event format is 10 hours during which participants aim to complete ten laps of one chosen loop length.

Distances available include:

  • roughly 3 mile loop
  • roughly 4 mile loop
  • roughly 5 mile loop

Participants receive an event medal and a coloured finisher's shirt based on their ability to complete ten laps of the chosen loop in the allotted time. Competitors may change down to a shorter loop at any time, but they must complete each lap and return to the race village within the hour to continue. Failure to complete a lap and return within the hour prevents progression to the next hour. The finishing grade is determined by the shortest loop completed, not by total mileage.

The venue is a private working estate that includes an MOD training range. The location is described as secluded and surrounded by nature. Each lap of the course can include up to 700 ft or about 215 m of elevation. The Red and Black courses are mostly on hard packed trail, while the shorter Blue course takes in more off-road trail. The Blue loop can be completed by walking or running if the participant maintains forward progress. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
