Fortitude Ultra - Pippingford

Fortitude Ultra is a time-based lap event held at Pippingford Park, Uckfield, on a private working estate that includes an MOD training range. The format is ten hours during which participants attempt to complete ten laps of looped courses of different lengths.

Distances offered include:

  • ~3 mile loop
  • ~4 mile loop
  • ~5 mile loop

Participants may drop down to a shorter loop at any time, but to progress they must complete all ten laps and return to the race village within each hour. Failure to complete a lap and return to the start within the hour prevents continuation into the next hour. The competitor's finishing grade is determined by the shortest loop completed, not by total mileage.

Each lap includes up to 700 ft (215 m) of elevation. The Red and Black courses are mainly on hard packed trail, while the shorter Blue course includes more off-road trail and can be completed by walking or running. The venue is described as a secluded estate surrounded by natural terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
