Folding Mountain Ultra
Event overview
The Folding Mountain Ultra takes place June 6, 2026 in Hinton, Alberta, with the start and finish at Folding Mountain Landing. Distances offered include:
- 25KM
- 60KM Solo
- 60KM Relay (2-person)
The event is for participants aged 18+. Mandatory race check-in and race package pickup occur before race day at Jasper East Hostel. A mandatory pre-race briefing is scheduled on race day. Folding Mountain Landing will host music, food, and beer from Folding Mountain Brewing.
Course information
The 60KM Full Range has approximately 2,430 m of elevation gain, a technical profile with steep sections and a short scree section near the summit, and a 14-hour cutoff. It is split into two legs: Leg 1 is the Cap Ridge Loop (about 35KM) with roughly 900 m of climbing in the first 15KM; Leg 2 follows the Folding Mountain Trail (about 25KM) with roughly 980 m of climbing over 9KM, including about 660 m in the first 4KM. The 60KM may be completed solo or as a two-person relay with the exchange at base camp. Course routes are subject to change; final maps and GPX files will be released in Spring 2026.
The 25KM Folding Ascent has about 1,086 m of elevation gain, is an out-and-back route, is described as technical and steep, and has a 14-hour cutoff. The route includes a flat 6.5KM approach to the first aid station, the Folding Mountain Trail climb, a false-summit aid station before a scree section, and a downhill return to base.
Registration and inclusions
Registration opens November 21, 2025. Early bird and regular pricing apply for each distance; fees include GST and a Race Roster fee. All entries include a race-branded tee, a finisher's medal, on-course nutrition and hydration, post-race food, beer from Folding Mountain Brewing, and a donation to Hinton Search and Rescue.
