About the race
Florida Roots Trail Race at Fort Clinch takes place on January 23, 2027 at Fort Clinch State Park in Amelia Island / Fernandina Beach, Florida. The event uses a single 10K loop that begins and ends at the Fort Clinch visitor center; longer distances repeat that loop.
Distances offered
- 10K: 1 loop, 6.2 miles
- 30K: 3 loops, 18.6 miles
- 50K: 5 loops, 31 miles
The course follows canopied singletrack through maritime hammock and along coastal shore, passing historic fort walls. Surfaces vary from sand to well packed dirt and include many short, sometimes steep climbs. Roots are common on the trail.
Race services include chip timing by MCM Timing, a race shirt, finisher awards, and post-race food and drinks. The 10K loop has two aid stations, with the second station at about 2.5 miles; aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink, food, and bathrooms. The start and finish area supports drop bags.
Awards include finisher awards for all finishers and Florida State Park passes for top male and female finishers and top masters in each distance. Group tent camping is available at Fort Clinch on the nights before the event; site facilities include restrooms, showers, and drinking water. No pacers are allowed on course. One hundred percent of event profits are donated to Florida State Parks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
