There is also an 8K RUCK option. The course traverses scenic grasslands and woodlands on rocky and dirt single-track trails, specifically the Barred Owl, Painted Bunting, and Live Oak trails. Logistics and Requirements

The start and finish are at Guadalupe River State Park. Packet pickup begins at 6:00 PM. A headlamp is required for all participants. The race is a "no cup" event, meaning participants must bring their own water-carrying system. There is an 8.5-hour cutoff for all race distances.

For the RUCK division, weight requirements are based on participant weight: a 30-pound ruck for those over 150 pounds and a 20-pound ruck for those under 150 pounds. A ruck sack or vest is allowed.

Included Amenities

Participants receive a Fire Trail Running Festival soft shirt. All finishers get a collectible finisher medal, with a special inscription for 50K finishers. The top three male and female runners in each distance receive awards, and a "Dead Freakin' Last" award is given for the 50K. RUCK finishers receive a patch. The race experience includes aid station food and hydration, a scenic and fully marked course, photography, and support from race staff and volunteers.
