Fire on the Mountain

This event is a point to point trail half marathon that starts at the Husum Fire Station and finishes at the White Salmon Fire Station in Husum and White Salmon, Washington. The course follows Indian Creek Road to the Weldon Wagon Trail, where runners climb approximately 1500 feet to elevated viewpoints over the White Salmon River Valley and the Columbia River Gorge. The route includes a few miles of gravel and a short road section before reaching the fully stocked Cherry Lane Fire aid station, then returns to spring flower-lined trails for a winding descent into White Salmon.

The race is part of the White Salmon Wildflower Festival and the balsamroot bloom is expected along the Weldon Wagon Trail portion of the course. One hundred percent of event proceeds will be donated to the Volunteer Firefighters Association of SW Fire & Rescue.

Check-in is handled at the White Salmon Fire Department and a shuttle bus transports participants to the Husum start; check-in is required even for participants arranging their own transportation to the start. Dogs are not permitted on the course because the route passes through cattle pasture. Registration closes May 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
