White Salmon Backyard Half & 4 Miler

The White Salmon Backyard event is the 18th annual race held in White Salmon, WA. It offers a half marathon and a four mile event and serves as a fundraiser for the White Salmon Cross Country program. Organizers suggest an additional donation beyond the registration fee to support the team.

Registration and the start and finish are at Rheingarten Park at N. Main Ave and NW Lincoln St. Day of registration is available at the start line and organizers accept cash, checks, and Venmo. Registration closes on Thu, Jun 11 at 11:59 PM PT. Participants who drop out are asked to check in at the finish line.

The race uses a lollipop course layout. The half marathon includes a trail portion of about 12.3 miles configured as a large lollipop loop. The 4 mile race has a trail portion of about 2.5 miles as a smaller loop on hilly terrain. Road sections of roughly one mile each connect to the trail. The route includes a notable climb and descent with views of the Columbia River. The course will be marked with paint and orange surveyors tape. There are three aid stations; the first full aid station is roughly 30 to 40 minutes into the course depending on pace. No dogs are allowed. Runners are advised to carry a water bottle, especially in warm weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
