Fire Ball Half and 4 Mile

The event is a trail running weekend in Palo Duro Canyon State Park near Canyon, TX, organized by the Palo Duro Trail Run Series. It offers trail courses that pass red rock walls, bluffs, and cottonwood trees beside a stream. Runners encounter a mix of surfaces including smooth single track, sand, rock, and short but steep technical ascents and descents.

The 4 mile course is a loop on the Comanche and Kiowa trails. The half marathon route goes deeper into the canyon and follows trails that head west toward Comanche trail. One aid station on the half marathon is located approximately halfway at Mesquite; the aid station provides water, Hyperlyte drink mix, coke, ginger ale, pickle juice, gels, grapes, bananas, and assorted snacks. This is a cupless event; participants must carry their own hydration containers to refill.

Packet pick-up is available in the days before the race and on race day at the Mack Dick parking lot (Get Fit tent); one pre-race location is Get Fit Georgia. The half marathon has a course cutoff of 4.5 hours to be included in results and eligible for awards. Awards include overall and masters places plus age-group awards across multiple age brackets.
