Fire Ball Half and 4 Mile, August 23, 2025

The event took place on August 23, 2025 at Mack Dick Pavilion in Palo Duro Canyon State Park, near 11450 Park Road 5 in Canyon, Texas. Two distances were offered:

  • Half marathon
  • 4 mile loop

Runners followed a variety of trail surfaces, including smooth single track, sand, and rock, with short but steep technical ascents and descents. The 4 mile route is a loop on the Comanche and Kiowa trails. The half marathon continued deeper into the canyon, passing red rock walls, bluffs and cottonwood trees along a stream.

This was a cupless race. Participants were required to carry their own hydration system. Two aid stations were available: one at the start/finish and one at Mesquite, roughly halfway along the course. Aid station supplies included sweet and salty snacks, Coca Cola, ginger ale and an electrolyte drink mix called Hyperlyte Liquid Performance.

The event policy did not allow rollovers or refunds. Course maps were available for the half marathon and the 4 mile route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
