Fire Ball Half and 4 Mile

This event is held at Mack Dick Pavilion in Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Canyon, TX, and is organized by the Palo Duro Trail Run Series. It offers two trail distances:

  • Half Marathon
  • 4 mile

Runners will encounter a variety of trail surfaces including smooth single track, sand, and rock, plus short but steep technical ascents and descents. The 4 mile course is a loop on the Comanche and Kiowa trails. The half marathon proceeds further into the canyon and passes red rock walls, bluffs, and cottonwood trees by a stream. Both races begin by heading west on Comanche trail.

There is one aid station on the half marathon located approximately halfway at Mesquite. The event is cupless so participants must carry their own hydration or cup to refill at the aid station. The aid station will be stocked with water, Hyperlyte liquid performance drink mix, coke, ginger ale, pickle juice, gels, grapes, bananas, and assorted sweet and salty snacks.

Packet pick up is available on Thursday August 20 with location to be determined, Friday August 21 at Get Fit Georgia (1911 S Georgia St.), and on race day at the Mack Dick parking lot Get Fit tent. Awards include overall and masters winners plus age group prizes in standard age brackets. No refunds, rollovers, or race day distance changes are permitted.
