FatShoe - Silver Star Mountain Resort

FatShoe is a winter event held on the BX Creek trail system at Silver Star Mountain Resort. It offers solo and team formats with separate options for fat bike, snowshoe, and a kids' non-competitive snowshoe race.

Main course distances:

  • 10 km of fat bike trails.
  • 5.5 km snowshoe course.
  • 2.5 km Kids Snow Stompers course.

The combo format is a fat bike plus snowshoe duathlon that uses a token handoff for team transitions. Participants must supply their own fat bike and snowshoes; local rental options are available and Silver Star offers a 20% rental discount. The solo snowshoe event is part of the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series.

On-site services include a first aid tent, fire pit areas, hot drinks and light food for participants. Photography on course is provided and may be offered to racers. Event rules require staying on marked trails, no e-bikes, helmet use when on or near a bike, and carrying a minimum of 500 ml of water at the start. Package pickup requires personal pick up and ID, and racers must complete event waivers before arrival. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
