Fall Backyard Burn Trail Run - Lake Fairfax

The event takes place on Sunday October 18, 2026 at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, VA. It uses the park trail network and visits singletrack with lake views, short technical sections of rocks and roots, and minimal pavement. The course features frequent short climbs and descents rather than extended climbs.

Distances offered:

  • 5.1 miles - 1 lap; approximately 300 feet elevation gain
  • 10 miles - 2 laps; approximately 600 feet elevation gain

The race is staged at Canopy Pavilion G. Parking is arranged in the grass field in front of Pavilion G and in the Water Mine Water Park gravel lot. Registration fees include aid stations, medical support, post-race food, awards, and race swag; finish medals are available as an optional add-on. During registration there is an opportunity to support the local nonprofit Homestretch.

A children’s race and a supervised kids program are offered in partnership with Little Fern Learning. The kids program runs during the race morning, involves nature and STEM activities, and requires pre-registration; program fees and sibling discounts are listed by the organizer.
