F^3 Cap Sauers Trail Marathon & 10 Mile
The event takes place on 05/08/2027 at Cap Sauers Holding Nature Preserve in Palos Hills, Illinois, using the Sag Valley Trail system. The preserve covers the maintained Yellow, Green, Blue and Tan trails and is described as the largest tract of undeveloped land in Cook County, IL.
Distances:
- 26.2 Miles Marathon on Sag Valley Trail, 2 circuits plus 10k out-and-back.
- 10 Miles course on Sag Valley Trail, actual distance 10.0 miles, hilly.
Both courses run on wide horsetrail with little technical trail running and often allow two-way traffic. The marathon course consists of two circuits of the 10 mile loop followed by a final 10k out-and-back to the west aid station and back. Elevation is noted as about 1050 ft for the marathon and 400+ ft for the 10 mile course.
Aid is provided at multiple approximate mile marks. Marathon aid marks: 3, 5, 8, 10, 13, 15, 18, 20, 23. Ten mile aid marks: 3, 5, 8. There are aid stations at each turnaround and porta-potties at the east and west ends of the course. Station supplies vary; examples listed include water, Gatorade Endurance Lemon-Lime, pickles, gummi bears, Pringles, and toilets.
