Palos Park Spooky Shuffle 2026
Palos Park Spooky Shuffle is a fall trail run and walk held at Swallow Cliff South Forest Preserve in Palos Park, Illinois. The event is presented by the Palos Park Department of Recreation & Parks in partnership with the Forest Preserves of Cook County and offers trail routes through the Sag Valley Trail System with ravines, hills, and mostly gravel, unpaved surfaces. Course layouts may change slightly based on trail conditions.
Distances:
- 5K out-and-back route using Brown, Yellow, and Green trails near Grove 2 Pavilion.
- 10K loop route using Yellow and Black trails, passing Horsetail Lake and 40 Acre Woods.
Participants registered by October 2 are guaranteed a race shirt style and size, a reusable race cup, and a finisher medal. Race shirts are offered in both cotton and poly-blend performance options. The event emphasizes sustainability by providing reusable race day cups and reducing single-use disposables.
Packet pick-up takes place at the Palos Park Recreation Center on the day before the race and also on race day; a designated person may pick up another participant’s packet if staff are notified in advance for ID verification. Parking is at Swallow Cliff South off LaGrange Road with overflow directed to Forty Acre Woods and a short walk or shuttle to the start. The event proceeds rain or shine; staff may cancel for severe weather and registrations are non-refundable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
