About the race
The Universal Sole November Trail Challenge takes place on November 21, 2026, at Wolf Road Woods in the Palos Trail System, Willow Springs, IL. The event uses a two-loop layout for the eight-mile race and a single loop for the four-mile option.

- 8 mile (two loops)
- 4 mile (one loop)
The course mixes double-track and single-track trails with crushed limestone, dirt, rocks, roots and occasional mud, plus some small climbs and undulating terrain. Due to Cook County Forest Preserve regulations, there are no aid stations on the trails; bottled water will be available at the start/finish area and an aid table is provided there. Runners are advised to bring a bottle or hydration pack. Granola bars and bananas will be provided at the finish.
Every registered runner receives a custom USOLE Trail Challenge premium wicking running shirt. Post-event offerings include Revolution craft brews and limited nonalcoholic beer, and finishers receive Will’s Famous Chili (with a vegetarian option). Race-day gear check is available at the Universal Sole check-in tables, and there is plentiful parking in the forest preserve lots.
Awards include overall tiles and Fleet Feet gift certificates for top finishers by gender category, full age-group awards for the 8 mile race (top three in each age group), and age-group winners for the 4 mile race. A post-race raffle will be held on site. Strollers and leashed dogs are allowed, with a request to start near the back. In the presence of lightning the organizers may delay; other weather conditions may not cancel the event. No refunds, exchanges, or person-to-person entry transfers are permitted.
