The Elves 11ish Trail takes place on 21 December 2025, starting and finishing at Maldon Saints Youth Football Club, Park Drive. The event follows a circular narrative trail route between Maldon and Mundon. The race is run under permit from the Trail Running Association (permit number TBC). Course and support

The route covers 11 Elvish miles and is about 95% off road on a variety of terrain. There are no marshals or directional arrows; participants follow written instructions. A well stocked checkpoint is provided at approximately 7 miles. On finishing, participants receive a medal, snacks and a hot drink. An event GPX route file is available.

Entry, timing and rules

Timing is recorded from each individual start and results are planned to be posted later the same day. Bags may be left in the hall at the owner’s risk; someone will be present at all times. Fancy dress is encouraged. Key rules include not passing race numbers to others, reporting to the organiser if abandoning the race, and not using personal stereos or headphones for safety. Refunds of 50% are available until 21 October 2025; no refunds after that date. Places can be transferred until 10 December 2025. A night street orienteering event in Chelmsford on 21 January using MapRun with two courses of 4.0 km and 7.3 km. It counts toward the Essex Winter Midweek Series with handicap scoring and an Anytime catch-up option.

Join the Dark Horse Trail on 21 January 2026 for a 5 mile self navigated run around Galleywood Common, starting and finishing at the Horse and Groom pub. Limited to 60 places, entry includes a sausage or veggie burger with chips.
