Elephant Challenge - Harwell

Harwell, United Kingdom • 24 Mar 2026

Event details

Elephant Challenge takes place at Salcey Forest, Wootton Rd, NN7 2HX, England. The event is a timed endurance event with a six-hour limit. Entrants complete as many laps of the loop as they wish within that time. The route has been used at Salcey Forest in previous years.

Course and format

The course is an off-road loop of 3.5 miles on well maintained pathways with no asphalt. Surfaces are mainly crushed stone or compacted forest floor; narrower sections contain tree detritus and can become muddy or slippy when wet. On dry days road shoes are acceptable; on wet days trail shoes may be more suitable. Marathon and half marathon equivalents are given in laps: a marathon requires seven laps plus an out-and-back, and a half marathon requires three laps plus an out-and-back.

Logistics and entry

Canicross entries are permitted; leads must be kept short and canicross competitors start with the main field. Rucking is allowed. A GPX of the route is available. Parking is subject to a special offer fee of £3.50 for the day. Entry pricing is tiered: £37 before 24/02/2026 and £42 after; unaffiliated entrants pay an additional £2. There is an option to make a donation to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity during registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
