The primary course for the 50 Miler is a 10-mile loop that combines the Blue Wing, Koasati, and Whoa Mule trails. Two aid stations serve the loop: a main staffed station at the Start/Finish area providing hot food and a variety of trail snacks, and an unmanned station near mile 5 supplying water, snacks, ice, and electrolytes. Trail terrain reflects typical Louisiana State Park conditions with generally flat, minimally elevated paths, muddy sections, exposed tree roots, and natural surfaces.

Lake Bistineau State Park features upland mixed hardwood forest, open water, and stands of cypress and tupelo trees. Park facilities include boat launches, hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, camping areas, and cabins. The lake reservoir dates to early 1800s changes in the Red River and a permanent dam was built in 1935; the reservoir covers about 26.9 square miles with average and maximum depths described in park information.

Lodging at the park includes 17 premium campsites (five pull through, 12 prime locations) with water and electrical hookups, plus 44 improved campsites with water and electrical hookups. Event swag varies by distance, including hoodies and accessories for longer distances. Awards include finisher buckles for the 100K and 100 Miler and medals or plaques for shorter distances. Race day provisions at the Start/Finish list items such as bacon, PB&J, chips, quesadillas, grilled cheese, snacks, drinks, water, ice, electrolytes, and vegan options. Discounts are noted for military personnel, donors, and first responders with proof required within 24 hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
