El Diablo Hundo
El Diablo Hundo is a multi-distance trail event held at Lake Bistineau State Park in Doyline, Louisiana. Distances offered include:
- 100 Miler
- 100K
- 50 Miler
- 25K
The marked course uses a 10 mile loop that combines the Blue Wing, Koasati, and Whoa Mule trails. Two aid stations are provided on the loop: a main staffed station at the Start/Finish area offering hot food and a range of trail snacks, and an unmanned station near mile 5 supplying water, snacks, ice, and electrolytes. The trail surface reflects typical state park terrain with mostly flat sections, minimal elevation change, muddy stretches, exposed tree roots, and natural trail footing.
The event base is Lake Bistineau State Park on the lake’s western shore. The park includes upland mixed hardwood forest, stands of cypress and tupelo trees, two boat launches, hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, camping and cabins, picnic facilities, and fishing opportunities. The park trail system includes nearly 10 miles of woodland trails and an 11 mile canoe trail.
Lodging options within the park include 17 premium campsites with water and electrical hookups and 44 improved campsites with water and electrical hookups. Participant items vary by distance; top distance finishes receive finisher buckles and other awards. Cutoff times are listed for distance categories. Race day food includes hot and cold options and vegan choices. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
