Edge Hill Trail Race
Edge Hill Trail Race offers three trail distances that explore the hill towns of western Massachusetts around the Edge Hill Conservation Area in Ashfield, Massachusetts. The courses use a mix of single track trails, dirt roads, and a few stretches of pavement.
Distances
- 50k
- 30k
- 10k
The event is organized in partnership with Franklin Land Trust on a property that was a former golf course purchased in fall 2023. The Land Trust plans to transform fairways into grassland and shrubland habitat and to restore wetlands in collaboration with Massachusetts’ Department of Ecological Restoration and the Department of Fish and Game. Runners cross multiple properties conserved by the Land Trust.
Elevation varies by distance. The 50k covers approximately 4,000 feet of climbing and reaches the high point of Ashfield. The 30k includes about 3,100 feet of climbing. Aid is provided roughly every 3 to 5 miles; some 50k aid stations are water only. Organizers may set time cutoffs at selected aid stations so most participants complete the course in under 9.5 hours, and early starts can be accommodated.
Basic race support includes water, energy drink, soda, snacks such as cookies and fruit, and first aid at the start and finish area. Day of registration will be available at higher prices. Prizes and locally produced swag are planned for the top finishers in each category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
