East Devon 8 Trigs - 3 October 2026

East Devon 8 Trigs is a self navigation trail event based at Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club in Devon. It is open to runners and walkers and allows solo entries or teams of two. GPS tracking is provided and participants must prove visits to each trig by stamping a card.

Distances offered include:

  • 3 Trigs Half Marathon (approx 21 km)
  • 6 Trigs Marathon (approx 42 km)
  • 8 Trigs Ultramarathon (approx 53 km)

All routes start at Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club and follow the South West Coast Path to West Down Beacon, a viewpoint with long sea and inland views. Routes then head inland across Woodbury Common. The half route returns after Woodbury trigpoint, while the marathon and ultra cross the River Otter and visit additional trigs before returning via High Peak. For 2026 the routes will be run in reverse.

The event is not waymarked, so basic navigation skills are required. A suggested route and GPX files will be available on Outdoor Active, and Explorer 115 (Exmouth and Sidmouth) is the recommended paper map. Car parking, a bar, a cafe and hot showers are available at the event base. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
