DT Stone Anvil - Fort Mountain State Park, Chatsworth GA

DT Stone Anvil is a set of trail races in the Cohutta Mountains at Fort Mountain State Park. The event uses a folded figure eight base loop with an inner clockwise loop and an outer counter-clockwise loop. The outer loop is about 20 miles with roughly 5,500 feet of elevation gain per loop; two taps on the Pinhoti Connector add about 3.4 miles and 1,500 feet of gain.

The course includes four full aid points, one check station with water, and one water-only point per loop, giving six aid points total. Crew access is allowed at Lakeside, Cool Springs Overlook, and the start/finish area. Some trail sections are technical, including parts of the Gahuti trail, while much of the route is rolling double-wide trail with a mix of climbs. Cutoff times are strictly enforced on later loops for safety. Packet pickup is scheduled on the days before each race with specific locations noted for the 200M and weekend races.

For 2026 the 6-hour and 12-hour races have been discontinued; the organizer intends an informal 4-hour powerline hill challenge on the Wednesday before the main weekend races. Vehicle guidance notes discourage RVs and trailers and advises smaller vehicles for aid station access. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
