Event overview
The Stone Anvil is a set of trail races held at Fort Mountain State Park in the Cohutta Mountains near Chatsworth, GA. The event runs from April 14 to April 19, 2026. Distances and formats include:
- 200 Miler
- 100 Miler
- 100K
- 72-hour timed event
- 50K
- One&Done
For 2026 the 6-hour and 12-hour timed races have been discontinued; an informal 4-hour powerline hill challenge is planned on the Wednesday after the 200-mile start. Packet pickup is scheduled on the days before each race, with a specific pickup for the 200M on the Tuesday evening prior.
Course and logistics
The course uses a folded figure-eight of inner and outer loops inside the park. The outer loop is about 20 miles with roughly 5,000 feet of elevation gain; a typical loop gains about 5,500 feet. The Power Line Climb is about 1 mile with about 1,000 feet of gain. The 200M is 10 loops, the 100M is 5 loops, the 100K is 3 loops, the 50K is 1.5 loops, and One&Done is 1 loop. Barometric measurements show about 25,000 feet of total gain for the 100M course.
Each loop includes multiple aid points (about six per loop) and several crew-accessible stations, including Lakeside and Cool Springs Overlook. Pacer pickup and drop rules vary by distance and loop count. Cutoff times are strictly enforced on later loops for runner safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
