Edale Skyline Fell Race

The Edale Skyline Fell Race is a Category A long fell race organized by the Dark Peak Fell Runners. The event takes place on an unmarked course that traverses high and exposed fell terrain. Participants face potential harsh winter conditions and are required to have significant fell running experience.

To enter the event, participants must meet specific experience criteria. This includes having finished the race within the last five years or having completed two AL races in the last four years. Alternatively, individuals must demonstrate the ability to navigate safely through exposed terrain in winter conditions. Because the course is unmarked, carrying a physical map and a compass is essential, and the use of GPS for navigation is not permitted.

The required kit list for this event is more extensive than the standard Fell Runners Association (FRA) requirements for an AL race. While requirements may be relaxed to standard FRA kit if weather conditions are favourable, participants are expected to arrive prepared for the full kit list.

The race starts from the Edale Village Hall. Participation is open to individuals who are 18 years or older on the day of the event. Registration is managed through a pre-entry system, with fees set differently for FRA members and non-members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
