Dogwood Ultra Marathons at Twin Lakes State Park

The event offers multiple loop-based race options held at Twin Lakes State Park in Green Bay, Virginia. Distances and formats include:

  • 10 Mile
  • 12-Hour solo or relay
  • 24-Hour solo or relay
  • 48-Hour solo or relay
  • 72-Hour solo or relay

The course is a loop of 3.42 miles. Each loop has rolling hills with about 400 feet of elevation gain and two stream crossings. Runners will pass the start/finish frequently and will see water views along the route. The single aid station at the start/finish provides hot food on a rotating basis, typical ultra foods, water, Tailwind and pop. Runners may set up a personal aid area near the start/finish instead of using drop bags. Primitive camping is available at the start line; the park also has cabins and a campground.

The event is chip timed. Relay teams may include same-gender or mixed-gender members, with team sizes up to four members for most relays and up to six for the 48-hour relay. Pacers are permitted under event-specific rules and runners over 60 may have pacers at any time. There is no partial-lap credit; a full loop is required for each counted lap.

A Parent Loop option allows a family member to complete one loop; that option includes a shirt and a handmade finisher award and is hand timed. Awards include top-three male and female stained glass for each distance and handmade pottery for all finishers. Discounts are offered for certain service professionals.
