Trail Running at Green Mountain

The Dirty Turtle 25/50k takes place on Green Mountain, utilizing a course comprised of 75% singletrack trails and 25% dirt and gravel service roads. Participants reach the summit and ridges of the mountain, which offer views of the surrounding landscape. The 50 km distance includes approximately 7,000 to 8,000 feet of elevation gain.

Available distances include:

  • 25 km
  • 50 km
  • 25 km Ruck

The event features a dedicated rucking division for the 25 km distance. Participants in this category carry a rucksack weighing between 20 and 30 lbs, excluding consumables like food and water. This division is recognized as an official GORUCK Rucking Division, and finishers receive specific rucking patches.

The race is a cupless event, requiring all runners and ruckers to carry a hydration bladder with at least a one-liter capacity. Aid stations along the course provide various food items, including chips, quesadillas, guacamole, watermelon, and candy.

Registered participants receive a post-race meal from a food truck at the finish line. Weekend camping is available at the Green Mountain Horse Camp on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground provides vault toilets but does not have potable water or showers. The course is marked with surveyor's ribbon and yellow signs at intersections.
