Dinged to Blads Trail Runs

Dinged to Blads Trail Runs takes place in Helena, MT and uses trails in the McMaster Hills east of the city. The event in 2026 is offered as a trial with free registration; an official race is planned for 2027. Distances offered include multiple loop combinations.

The trails provide views of the Missouri River, Hauser Lake, the Big Belt Mountains, the Elkhorn Mountains and the Helena valley. Runners may pass a point on the course where a dip in the Missouri River is possible.

Course layout and distances

  • 50K Complete big and small loops twice
  • 25K Complete the big loop and the small loop
  • 14K Complete one lap of the big loop

Course markings will be minimal for 2026 and the route will not be fully marked; major intersections are expected to have some directions. There will be one main aid station at the McMaster Hills East Trailhead providing water and minimal snacks. Additional water may be placed on the course if conditions are hot. For looped entries there will be water and snacks available at the Start/Finish area and participants may use a personal vehicle as an aid point if needed. Water and snack points occur at approximately 3.1 mi, 9.3 mi, 12.5 mi, 15.6 mi, 18.6 mi, 24.9 mi, 28.1 mi and 31.1 mi. A course map and additional details are available. The Diamond City Mountain Relay will take place in Townsend from Friday 10 July 2026 to Sunday 12 July 2026. You can run 215 miles.

Trail out and back races near Kading Campground with 15 km and 30 km options, creek crossings and mountain views. Post-race food, beverages and prizes are available.

An August 1, 2026 trail event near Helena, MT offering 50 mile, 50K and 13.1 mile courses on technical single track through remote Elkhorn Mountains terrain with large elevation gain and staffed aid stations.

ROO Last One Standing is a backyard ultra near Clancy, Montana where runners run repeated 4.2 mile loops each hour until one runner remains. The last runner standing wins a $10,000 prize.
